TCAN4551-Q1: RX buffer behaviour

Part Number: TCAN4551-Q1
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: TCAN4550

Hello TI Forum,

I would like to check with you on following statements in the data sheets:

  • in the TCAN45xx software user’s guide stands: in a case, that the RX buffer is filled, the “original” data will be discarded => which I understand as the old data in the buffer is lost, new data is stored in the RX buffer
  • in the M_CAN Specification from BOSCH (Rev 3.3.0)(assumed, it is applicable on the TCAN4551) stands: As long as the respective NDAT (New Data Flag) is set, the RX buffer is locked against updates.

Please see the attached screenshots beneath.

Could you please check on this discrepancy?

Thank you!
