DP83848K: The problem about DP83848 connect to the PC

Hi

There are a few questions I'd like you to answer:

1. Can THE DP83848 hardware reset be directly connected to the PC? Do You still need software to operate it?

2. After the reset of the power-on hardware is completed, the TX clock is tested to be 40M, but not 25M or 2.5M. Is it correct?

3. How to confirm the SUCCESSFUL initialization of DP83848 chip and the correct connection to the computer?

    Hi Suy,

    1. Are you asking if the Reset_N pin of the DP83848 can be connected directly to the processor or MAC? 
    2. As you mentioned, the TX_CLK frequency should be 2.5 MHz or 25 MHz. If you are seeing 40 MHz the DP83848 may be in an undefined mode. Please check that all of the bootstrap settings are correctly configured for the mode you are targeting.
    3. The PHY will indicate that it has established link with a link partner over the LED_LINK pin (On = link established). Register 0x0001 bit[2] will also provide the link status of the PHY.
