TUSB1046A-DCI: Schematic review request

Part Number: TUSB1046A-DCI

Hi Team,

Could you check TUSB1046A-DCI part of Type-C PD schematic designed by my customer quickly.

Please find the schematic here.

Regards,

Takashi Onawa

    1. I would recommend changing the C379, C380, C381, and C382 from 0.1uF to 0.22uF

    2. I would recommend adding the optional 0.33uF cap on USBC_RX1PN and USBC_RX2P/N.

    3. Is GPIO3 / HPD going to serve the purpose of driving the TUSB1046 CTL1 in GPIO mode and HPD in I2C mode? You may want to add a series resistor on CTL1 / HPDIN to minimize the HPD stub

    4. I recommend adding a pullup option on CAD_SNK to disable AUX if needed.

    5. Please make sure SSTXP/N is AC-coupled.

    Thanks

    David

  • Hi Takashi-san,

Please find my comments below, overall a pretty good schematic.

    • TX1/2 should be AC coupled with 220nF and RX1/2 should be AC coupled with 330 nF. This is highly recommended when AC coupling a redriver to USB connector.
    • I recommend leaving a placeholder for 4.7k pull down on HPDIN pin when using the part in I2C mode. This will allows a virtual HDP signal to be sent by PD controller through I2C. See HPDIN_OVRRIDE bit description for additional details.
