I’m confusing a resolution of TFP401.

In the datasheet, I saw two sentences that confused me.

- Supports Pixel Rates up to 165 MHz (Including 1080 p and WUXGA at 60 Hz)

- The DVI interface supports flat-panel display resolutions up to UXGA at 165 MHz in 24-bit true color pixel format.

Can TFP401 support the Full HD resolution (1920x1080) when converting from DVI to RGB and from RGB to DVI?

Hi Sy,

TFP401 cannot convert from RGB to DVI. It only does DVI to RGB. Max resolution depends on pixel clock frequency, frame rate, and blanking. The equation is:

frequency = Hactive*Vactive*(1+%blanking)

For example, if you have a 1920x1080 display at 60Hz and 20% blanking, if you plug these numbers into the equation above the required frequency is 149.3 MHz. Since the TFP401 can support frequencies up to 165 MHz, it will be able to support this resolution.

I'm looking for a device that supports Full HD to convert from RGB to DVI.

Does TI has solutions?
