TLK2711-SP: Power-On Reset

Part Number: TLK2711-SP

Hi Team, we would like to seek your clarification.

1) What are the conditions that lead the receiver circuit to power up in this failed state, i.e. with internal contention? What is the likelihood/probability of this issue happening?
2) If the Power-On Reset is properly executed, is it still possible for the receiver circuit to arrive in this failed state?
3) Is there a way to monitor status such that one can confirm that the TLK2711-SP is NOT in this failed state?

Thank you very much in advance.

Regards,

Mark

  • Hi Mark,

Could you please refer me to the document that refers to the failed state you noted in item#1?

    Regards,, Nasser

  • Hi Nasser, we are referring on the line on the datasheet 8.3.20 Power-On Reset, "TI recommends that the receiver be reset immediately after power up. In some conditions, it is possible for the receiver circuit to power up in state with internal contention." We want to know those type of conditions.

    Thank you

  • Hi Mark,

1). Under certain condition or setup, this could occur. However, i don't know the probability of this occurrence.

2). Even when power on reset is completed it is still possible for this contention to occur. To get around this for sure, LCKREFN and LOOPEN need to be de-asserted at least 1ms after stable power. Suggestion is to even give it some margin and hold these signals de-asserted 2ms after stable power.

3). LCKREN and LOOPEN de-asserted  plus pulses on RXN/P.
