TPS65987D: Ta and Tj

Guru 29720 points
Part Number: TPS65987D

Hi Team,

The datasheet shows the following.

I believe if power dissipation is small and Tj is less than 125C, then we can disregard the Ta limit of 75C.
Is my understanding correct?

In addition, I believe the following "free-air temperature range" is Tj (-10~125℃) not Ta(-10~75℃).
Is it correct?

Best Regards,
Yaita

  • Hi Yaita,

Free air temperature is Ta (-10 to 75C).

"I believe if power dissipation is small and Tj is less than 125C, then we can disregard the Ta limit of 75C. Is my understanding correct?" One aspect is to keep Tj less than 125C by controlling Ta. Another point here is that the max temperature that the outer case can be exposed to. May I know the use case and max temperature?

    Thanks
