TPS25750: TPS25750 customer board debug

Hi Sir,

Customer make their TPS25750 board (5V power sink, no need to control charger at the first version) and we meet problem in TPS25750 booting:

1. Customer's board can process dead battery procedure and wait PDO negotiation without EEPROM. (Can see power source report its PDO but TPS25750 don't response)

2. Customer's board build up CC role definition (has 5V in Vbus) with EEPROM, we see TPS25750 read data from EEPROM successfully through I2C analyzer, but TPS25750 don't start communicating with Power source and CC is reconnect... Please see the attached about CC log.

3. We put the bin into TPS25750EVM and it looks good.

Would you please helping to check if anything we can check on customer's board? Thanks for your kindly help.

Dear Gary,

Can you attempt to connect the WP pin of the EEPROM directly to ground? I read in the datasheet for the EEPROM that the WP can be coupled to VCC, which would cause any writes to the EEPROM to not go through. Currently the WP pin is pulled through a 10 kOhm resistor, but it may be worth seeing what happens if directly shorted to GND. This would make sense why writing the binary to the EVM works but this doesn't.

Hi Mike,

We modify WP setting and the result is the same. BTW, I think PD had load data form EEPROM because we see I2C transmission and we can provide I2C log to you if necessary. Is there any flow chat or check point we can review our circuit to confirm TPS25750 PD work status except entering debug mode?

Dear Gary,

Seeing as the binary works on TI's EVM, I am wondering if something is wrong with your hardware. I am noticing that the datasheet of the selected EEPROM has only A0 and A1 for address inputs, but your schematic has A3. Does this change how you address the EEPROM?
