TUSB501-Q1: Do the TUSB501-Q1 support 5m cable application?

Hi,

USB 3 at 5 meters is difficult to achieve. I would recommend the customer look into USB 3 active cables to be used here. In this case devices like TUSB1002A and TUSB212 are used on with end of the cable. We do nor have any test data with TUSB501 and 5 m cables.

I would recommend testing to be done our the customer side as cable characteristics are not one to one even at the same length. Things like cable gauge, twisted or non twisted pairs and cable shielding can all influence the performance. Typical max length, and recommendation for TUSB501, for a USB 3.1 cable is 3m / 30 AWG.  There are some custom cables with longer lengths, but max cable length must meet the requirements in the USB 3.1 Legacy Cable and Connector Specification.

For testing customer can use the USB-REDRIVER-EVM to investigate performance with their desired cable.

yes, I agree with you that should be test by customer, but customer don't want to test , they want to TI test the data for them because of microchip provide the device EQCO510  can support 5m in datasheet.

Is there possible BU help to test the 5m data based on 30 AWG cable?
