DP83867IR: USB2MDIO does not recognize DP83867

Part Number: DP83867IR

Hi Experts,

My customer is going to control DP83867 EVM by USB2MDIO. MSP430F5 EVM is used. After writing USB2MIDO firmware, we confirmed USB2MDIO GUI can connect DP83822 EVM and read/write registers. When attempting to connect DP83867 EVM and scan PHY ID, GUI message shows "PHY ID is NOI available" then we cannot access registers.

We monitored the MDIO and MDC pins but MDIO and MDC pin(P4.1 and P4.2) do not output anything.

Do you have any idea how we can resolve it?

Regards,

Uchikoshi

  • Hi Uchikoshi,

Are you able to ensure that the PHY is powered correctly through voltage measurement of its power pins?

Which DP83867 board are you using, the RGMII EVM, or the other EVM?

Is the power indication LED on when you are doing this measurement?

Have you tried to flip the MDC and MDIO connection and see if this works?

When connecting to the MDC/MDIO of the EVM, which pin and jumper are you connecting to? Are you also ensuring that the GND of the MSP is connecting to the GND of the EVM?

    Sincerely,

    Gerome

  • Hi Gerome,

    Thank you for your advice.

There are two COM ports shown on device manager. With using another port, USB2MDIO can work.
