TPS65987D: PD design in sink mode

Part Number: TPS65987D

Hi,

I am using TPS65987DDHRSHR for PD in USB type C in SINK only mode, i want to negotiate power at 15, 20V with 5A and i am confused whether i need to put the push buttons at 20V_PB_SINK and 15V_PB_SINK which are in EVM, and do i need any flash memory?

NOTE: C type connector is used only for power and no data lines are connected

  • Hello,

You do not need push buttons. The push buttons on the USB-C-PD-DUO-EVM are to show off the functionality of having multiple configurations with changing sink capabilities. As your sink capabilities will be fixed, you do not need to have the push buttons.

You will need a flash memory.

Please keep in mind that in order to be compliant with the PD spec, you will need to offer 5V and 9V if you want to also offer 15V and 20V.

    Thanks,

    Emma
