Hello,

I`m working on a media converter from 100Base-TX to 100Base-T1 and vice versa. I´m looking forward to use the DP83822HF and the DP83TC811R-Q1.

I already found your DP83TC811EVM an looked through the schematics.

My Question: Is it possible to design a working media converter without using a microcontroller?

Hi Jonas,

Yes, you can use the DP83822 and DP83TC811 in conjunction as a media convert by strapping each device into it's required mode.

But I have another question regarding this thread.

Are there any advantages of using a microcontroller to design such a media converter, instead of strapping it to the required modes?
