Hi team,

Customer has several questions about DP83869HM.

1. What are the pros&cons of two-supply mode and three-supply mode?

2. Can DP83869HM support 10Base-T? Are there any limitations when the opposite device supports only 10Base-T?

3. The datasheet specifies the absolute maximum rating of MDI-pin, but I am not sure what MDI-pin means. Could you tell what MDI-pin means?
This pin seems to be different with MDIO.

Hi Takahashi,

Here are my answers to your questions:

The main benefit of three-supply mode is lower power consumption, while the main benefit to two-supply mode is needing only two power supplies and less capacitors (using less space overall). I have linked an application note at the bottom showing the power consumption difference for the DP83867 as an example.
DP83869 can support 10Base-T. There should be no limitations if the link partner only supports 10Base-T.
MDI pins are the Differential Transmit and Receive Signals that are connected to the magnetics and RJ45 connector. These include pins 1, 2, 4, 5, 7, 8, 10, 11.
