Hi Expert,

I want to know something about TCA6416A and TCA6424A.

* Questions

1. As I know, this device can't support ADC. Below is our customer's question.

Can the P port support ADC function?

2. Our customer want to control LEDs up to 15 or 20pcs.

If I want to control LED On/Off by each P-port, how many current can support per P-port?

When I checked Iiok = 20mA on data sheet, is it right?

Do I have to do set max. current 20mA through external resistor between Vcc and LED?

If I use schematic like below, What's the current spec. which is Iiok or Iol or Ioh?

1. What exactly do you mean with "ADC function"? These I/O Expander have digital I/Os, which could be connected to any digital I/O of the ADC.

2. The current that is usable without losing too much voltage over the output transistor is specified as I_OL in the recommended operating conditions. (The parallel resistor is needed only when the I/O pin is configured as input.)

When the pin is configured as input, it has high impedance, and no current flows. But you could just configure it as a high output.
