TUSB1064: Trace length concern

Hi,

Currently the type-c connector is implemented on a small board which will be mounted to the main board directly through a 10-pin pad. So, the total trace length would be summarized as below. Do you think we can support such implementation?

On the small board, the super speed signal traces length from the type0c connector to the 10-pin pad is around 1600 mil as below.

On the main board, the super speed signal traces length from the 10-pin pad to TUSB1064 is around 360 mil.

The signal loss on the pad itself is unknown.

Hi Anthony,

That is the post channel length for this design? Customer should use a SMT USB-C connector here (assuming red trace in top image is routed on top layer). Something like this is possible but without knowing the IL or s-parameters of the connector it will be hard to say for certain. Please email this layout, if possible, for review.
