TLIN1029-Q1: Storage temperature and recommended operating ambient temperature

Part Number: TLIN1029-Q1

Hello team,

Could you give us the storage temperature and “recommended” operating ambient temperature ?

We understand the operating ambient temperature is described in absolute maximum ratings but let me confirm if the number can be applied in recommended conditions just in case.

Thank you and best regards,

Michiaki

  • Michiaki,

Great question, thanks for reaching out. You are correct that these can be treated as recommended operating conditions.

The device is designed to shut down when the temperature becomes too high. In the datasheet, this is listed as the "thermal shutdown temperature," or TSD. For the TLIN1029-Q1, the thermal shutdown temperature is 165°C minimum, and the hysteresis involved is typically 15°C. You may notice that the junction temperature range is up to 150°C in the absolute maximum ratings. Provided that the device is kept within this range, you should expect proper operation.

For ambient temperature concerns, consider that the product generates heat when operating. The thermal information is included in section 7.4 of the datasheet, and the heat generation of the device is heavily application-dependent. The junction temperature is the critical factor in determining the operation of the device. For example, operating the device at 150°C ambient temperature may mean that the junction temperature is above 150°C, potentially leading to thermal shutdown.

The thermal shutdown feature exists to help reduce the effect of high heat on the degradation of the device in these conditions. When thermal shutdown occurs, it significantly reduces the device's heat generation, allowing it to cool down to ambient temperatures.

I hope this helps. Please let me know if you have any further questions.

    Best,

    Danny
