TPS65982: How to handle Error_DeviceIncompatible issue?

Part Number: TPS65982
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: TPS25750

Hello guys.

I pluuged KHADAS Edge Pro (KEG1-P-002) Android device to our device that's under development.

TPS65982 is frequently reporting via IntEventX about:

(slvuan1a.pdf):

Error_DeviceIncompatible : When set to 1, a USB PD device with an incompatible specification version was connected. Or the partner device is not USB PD capable.

I see subsequent hard and soft resets.

Is Error_DeviceIncompatible critical? What outcomes could arrive from this? Or should I ignore it  and  seek mistakes in my power control algorithm that rules the TPS65982?

Thank you.

  • Hello,

Since this interrupt was set, it seems like the KEG1-P-002 is either not a PD capable device or that it's specification is not compatible. If this is the case, I don't think you will be able to have PD functionality with this device.

Have you also tested with other devices? Also, if you are developing a new project, I would also recommend looking into the TPS25750 device.

    Thank you,

    Hari
