TCAN1145-Q1: Support wake/sleep function

Part Number: TCAN1145-Q1

Dear Team,

Could TCAN1145-Q1 CAN FD  support wake/sleep function when CAN FD speed = 2Mbps?

Many Thanks,

Jimmy

  • Hi Jimmy,

[Edit]: This response is inaccurate. Please see the latest reply for correct information.

The selective wake for function for this device can be configured to work with CAN FD frames. Because the ID segment of the CAN frame will remain at classic CAN speeds (before the datarate increases for the data phase), the low-power wake receiver is able to identify the ID and wake accordingly.

Let me know if this answers your question.

  • Hi Jimmy,

I would like to correct myself here; while TCAN1145 can recognize CAN FD frames (it perceives the FD format indicator, not the FD data itself), a CAN FD frame will not wake the device from sleep. This behavior is defined in ISO 11898-1:2015. Wake up frames (WUF) need to be classic CAN frames in order to wake the device under this standard.

I apologize for the misinformation in my previous response.

    Eric Schott

  • Hi Eric,

    It's okay :)

I appreciated your great support always!
