TUSB4041I: PC doesn't recognize the TUSB4041I

Part Number: TUSB4041I

Hello team!

I have a problem with my USB HUB TUSB4041I, I have made a custom PCB and when I connect it to my computer (windows 10), a message appears with the error "the device is not recognized"

Here is the schematic, do I have something wrong?

Regards!

  • Hi David,

Can you check if there is a clock on XI?  The datasheet for that oscillator lists VDD at 3.3V?

Also, please check voltage levels on upstream DP/DM.

    Regards,

    JMMN

  • You were right about the 3.3v for the oscillator, I have changed the voltage (cutting the trace and soldering a wire to 3.3v) but the issue persist (I have replaced it for it was bad). My oscilloscope is cheap and doesn't read the frecuency of 24Mhz, so I cannot check it.

The voltage levels on upstream DP/DM is 0.3v in DP and 0v in DM. And the current consumption when I connect the board is about 150mA, which I think is too much (and there are no devices connected to the hub, only the upstream port)

    Regards!

  • Hi David,

Can you confirm that the hub doesn't have SMBUSz pulled low, that would put the hub in programming mode.  Also, can you confirm that there is a thermal pad under the hub connected with vias?

    Regards,

    JMMN

  • Hi JMMN!

Finally I solved the problem, I re-solder another board with new components and all was ok with the modification of 3.3v to the oscillator.

Thank you very much for your help.

    Regards!
