SN65DSI86: Content protection?

we are planning on using the SN65DSI86 to provide us a DisplayPort connector on our device. This would use the MIPI-DSI output of our SoM but instead of then going to eDP, we would route to a redriver and then to a DisplayPort connector. This would allow the main display to be cloned and output to an external display.

Have you seen this done successfully before?
I am worried about the SN65DSI86’s need for ASSR content protection. I saw this E2E forum post disabled ASSR by pulling the TEST2 pin HIGH. Will we then need to provide the HDCP to that DisplayPort connector?

Hi,

The DSI86 can support DP implementation, but it does not support HDCP.

Hi Thanks for this, I was not clear in the title, its the ASSR requirement on on the DSI86, would this be a problem for mirroring another display ( there is no HDCP content)

Hi,

The ASSR by default is enabled in the DSI86. But if the monitor does not support ASSR, then you can disable ASSR in DSI86 by

Pull TEST2 pin high to VIO through a 1k resistor and write these I2C commands.

But HDCP and ASSR are two separate options, they are not the same.
