TPS25750: TPS25750 USB comms

Part Number: TPS25750
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: TS5USBC41,

Hi,

Looking to use the TPS25750 device as a sink (UFP) for a battery powered device. Can I also route the source USB data to an onboard microcontroller via a SPDT USB mux? ie. TS5USBC41. If so can I control the muxing logic with the TPS25750?

Thanks

J

  • Jackson,

If you are operating as a sink(UFP), then there is no benefit to routing the USB port to the TPS25750.

You should just connect your MCU up and set the GUI configuration for the TPS25750 to be a USB2.0 device.

    Regards,

    Chuck

  • Hi Chuck,

    Thank you for you response.

So USB data should connect to my MCU as normal with PD operations handled by the CC lines?

If I did want to become a DFP would the USB phy in the MCU would need to support OTG?

    Thanks,

    J

  • J,

The MCU is able to trigger roll swaps and other behaviors as desired.

How are you configuring the charger and what charger are you using?  We support directly 3 families of TI chargers in the TPS25750 firmware.

Can you provide me with a higher level system diagram?  If confidentiality is an issue, then you can send me friend request and we can share them over private message
