Hi Team,
DS90UH941AS-Q1 and DS90UB941AS-Q1 seem to be pin-to-pin compatible but how are they different from each other? Are they interchangeable?
Thanks!
Roy

Hello Roy,
these are exactly the same hardware. The difference is the device with H does support HDCP, and the device with B does not support HDCP.
If you are not using HDCP in your system, then yes, they are interchangable.
Hi Jaradat,
Thanks for the reply! My customer actually designed their system with DS90UB941AS + DS90UB028Q; however, due to supply shortage of DS90UB941AS, they were looking for a replacement and hence my original question.
Now, they also want to know if DS90UH941AS can be paired with DS90UB928Q without additional verification, as they've already done it in their original design? Or does DS90UH941AS need to be paired with DS90UH928Q?
Thanks!
Roy
Hello Roy,
As I said earlier, the Hardware is same. So, you can pair them together. But you need to make sure you are not enabling HDCP in the UH941AS device.
Hello Roy,
As you can see, all default values in register 0xC4 and 0xC3 are 0. This means HDCP is not active by default. But if for some reason you have activated it and need to disable it, then yes, you need to set the bits 0xC3[3] and 0xC3[1] = 1.
