DS90UB960-Q1: Using ds90ub960 with four cameras that are synchronised

Part Number: DS90UB960-Q1

I plan to use the 960 with four 1080p cameras that will all be synchronised. I plan to use two CSI ports to send two cameras each. I have some questions.

1. Will the video data from each port arrive approximately at the same time? I want to have something like below with the lines arriving together give or take a few pixels.

Line 1 - CAM1/2, Line 2 etc

Line 1 - CAM3/4, Line 2 etc

I plan to have it so that the lines of the two cameras are concatenated together

2. If I removed one of the cameras (lets say 1) then would I just get cam 2 sent, or would the port just send some dummy data rather than the camera one data? If possible I would prefer that it still sent something.

Thanks

Jon

  • Hello Jon,

when you say " the video data from each port arrive approximately at the same time", do you mean RX Serial port or CSI-2 port?

  • Hi Hamzeh

I mean the CSI port. The cameras will be synchronized using a sync pulse. I guess that the data from each port should be sent roughly at the same time.

    Regards

    Jon

  • Hello Jon,

    1) Yes, if you enable the two CSI-2 ports at the same time, then the video data from each port will arrive approximately at the same time, but I can't tell you how exact is this time!

    2) This depends on your Video forwarding mode. If you chose BE-RR mode then you will be receiving the video data from any connected camera.

But If you are using one of the Synchronous forwarding modes, then once you disconnect a camera, the output will stop outputting anything!

Please refer to the 960 d/s section "7.4.25 CSI-2 Forwarding" on page 49.
