TCA9803: Confirmation Request of application circuit

Part Number: TCA9803

Dear Specialists,

My customer is considering TCA9803 and has a question.

I would be grateful if you could advise.

---

I am considering TCA9803DGKR.

(1) Connect the A side of TCA9803 to the I2C master device side (in this case, the microcomputer side).
I'm thinking of connecting the B side to the B side of the 9803, which is also mounted on the slave device, and connecting the A side to the slave device side.

(2) Is it okay to connect multiple slaves in the configuration of (1)?

Could you please see the block diagram below.

ーーー

I appreciate your great help in advance.

Best regards,

Shinichi

  • Mutiple TCA980x B sides cannot be connected together; see section 10.1.2.2 of the datasheet.

Swap A and B on the two right buffers (and remove the pull-ups on the B sides). This is similar to the example in section 10.2.4 of the datasheet, but with multiple A sides (which is allowed).

  • Hi Shinichi,

Just to echo Clemens (He's correct btw), B sides of TCA9803 cannot connect to each other. Flipping the devices on the right to make B side face the I2C responder devices is the suggested solution unless there is a reason why you can't.
