DS90UB954-Q1: Is there any problem if Port1 is NC but RX_PORT_CTL register bit 1 = 1 (enable)?

Part Number: DS90UB954-Q1

Hi team,

Is there any problem if RX Port1 is NC but RX_PORT_CTL register bit 1 = 1 (enable)?

If it is OK to configure RX Port1 NC with RX_PORT_CTL register bit 1 = 1 (enable), how RX Port1 output operates?

I would like to use some of DS90UB954-Q1 and some of them could use both of RX0 and RX1 port but others could use only RX0 instead of RX1 port.
Datasheet "pin function" says that "If port is unused, leave NC and set RX_PORT_CTL register bit 1 = 0 to disable (see Receiver Port Control)."
However, we would like to use just one common SW with RX0 and RX1 enabling for our system design, in spite of using only RX0 and RX1 with NC or floating.

Regards,
Ochi

  • Hello Ochi,

it is recommended to disable the unused Rx Port to avoid reflections and cross talking. You need to validate your system and make sure you do not have signal degradation issue when keeping that port open.

You may use VNA to measure reflections on the used port, and you can also use our MAP tool to see the differences between disabled or enabled second Port.
