DP83848C: viable for a new design?

Hi,

we are still using an old tranceiver: LXT971A

Now I want to redesign the board and use an alternativ tranceiver.
I found a rollover document (AN-1564).

This suggests the use of DP83848 as an alternativ.

But since this document is quite old as well (2006-2013), I need to know if there is a better alternativ?

And if the DP83848 is still the alternative, is there some kind of warranty that it will be avaible for the next years?
