PCI xx12 drivers.

Where can I find the drivers for my PCIxx12 Integrated FlashMedia/Cardbus/IEEE 1394 Controller? All I could find on this website is the PCI8412 product page (which I think is what I have on my laptop because according to the specs on this page, this controller has 1 IEEE 1394 port and supports FlashMedia, which is what I've got).

I couldn't find any link on the product page to the drivers or a support page for drivers anywhere on this website. Can anyone tell me if there's a page/section of this website that lists the drivers for my controller.

Thanks!

  • Our agreement with the PC OEMs do not allow us to distribute drivers to end customers.  We are required to refer you to the OEM.

  • And I must say that is a pretty crappy agreement, since the OEMs does a very good job giving your products a bad name.

As example we can take the OEM for my laptop, which thinks they do not need to publish updates, leaving me searching the net for a version of your driver that can even be installed on my computer (hint: version 2.0.0.2 cannot be installed, any version newer than that works great on my windows 7 x64).

And that reflects badly on your product since most people are not aware of limitations like this kind of agreements. Other vendors has stopped using them just because of the bad PR.

  • I agree, We paid for the computer which came with the drivers that the OS needs to work. Nonetheless, the consumer is always left holding the short end of the stick. It's funny pathetic not funny ha ha. That Texas Instruments is in cahoots with Microsoft in excluding us from this driver. Knowing full well that Microsoft and Macintosh OS's are really a Linux/Unix based system. In fact,  when you install UBUNTU, Fedora, Red Hat all (Linux) either alongside or formatting as a primary OS there are no issues with drivers and such. God forbid should you need an office suite from Microsoft the license for a typical end user is outrageous let alone for a fortune 500 company. Surprisingly, the office suite "Libre Office" all free. The GNU project ( or as I like to call it The LAW) states that all computing should be free and that's they it's been since the 70's.

Dude or Dudet, give Linux a try most of what you are looking for is FREE outside of the support it's pretty much Free and if you are or have a SYSTEMS ADMIN you shouldn't need the support. So if Texas Instruments wants to be this way with their "Little Driver" go where the grass is greener and FREE.

PS Ubuntu is what we like to call a lite OS and if you like the look and feel of Windows 7 or MacOSX you will like Ubuntu. It looks and acts just like these bulky and expensive OS's and besides all LINUX platforms are GREAT for SERVERS I hope this helps you good luck!

  • Dear Sir

  • To D. Harmon:

TI's agreements with PC-OEMs require the OEM to provide support for TI's products to the end-user/consumer.  When the OEM ceases/refuses to provide that support including driver-updates, the OEM has reneged on their responsibilities under the contract and that contract is, effectively, null and void.  Thus, allowing TI to provide drivers and updates of its products to end-users/consumers that have been abandoned.

In my case, Acer refuses to continue to support the TI PCI-xx12-Integrated Flash Media Controller/card-reader in my Acer Aspire 9300-5317 notebook-computer that has Windows XP-MCE installed.  I am seeking a driver-update that will enable the TI-card-reader to read "SD & SDHC" memory cards over 2GB-capacity and up to 32GB-capacity and possibly higher.

I hope that TI will accommodate my request.

Thank you for your anticipated reply.
