TPS65987D: SPI Programing Device selection

Part Number: TPS65987D
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: BQ25703, TPS65987, TM4C123GH6PM

Hello there,

I am designing a prototype board with a TPS65987 controlling a BQ25703 (as per SLVAE18.pdf)  and have looked at the the schematic for the TPS65987. The SPI interface is controlled using an FT4232h, which also has an EEPROM for vendor information.

My question are:

  1. Can I use any MPSSE device (like https://uk.farnell.com/ftdi/c232hm-edhsl-0/cable-usb-mpsse-0-45a-5v-o-p-50cm/dp/2352016?gclid=CjwKCAiAsaOBBhA4EiwAo0_AnP66XdemzAMqg3xxyabuaiqQjSW6IF6KcVKUCvbWrVxOLnxwmDj0khoCIvoQAvD_BwE&gross_price=true&mckv=sXJjjTnYr_dc|pcrid|483686871813|kword||match||plid||slid||product|2352016|pgrid|112844168343|ptaid|pla-310042457748|) or the FT4242h mini module.
  2. I would like to use the the TPS6598x Customisation utility to test my design and program the memory. Does the utility only work with devices with TI vendor ID's?

Mant thanks
