TPS65988: default setup for the TPS65988

Hi Team,

Here below is the question from the customer. Please help to support.

I was just wondering If I put 20vDC to the PP_HV pins on a TPS65988DKRSHR will my usb connected to the device be able to negotiate 5v, 9v, 15v and 20v without touching the firmware of the TPS65988 or adding external transistors or variable regulators.
This is how I read the datasheet but I wanted to confirm as there is no barebones typical application in the datasheet.

    Hi Eric,

    The TPS65988 is not a DC/DC converter so you will need to have a DC/DC converter that can supply 5V, 9V, 15V, and 20V and use the TPS65988 to communicate when to switch the output voltage. Please take a look at the TPS65987EVM or the TPS65988EVM for a good example of this. The TPS65987EVM uses GPIOs to change the feedback on the DC/DC regulator to switch the output voltage.
