SN65LVDS1: Input and output relationship

Hi team,

Good day.

Does the SN65LVDS1 provide an output similar to the input supply? For example, if we have a 2.5V input and supply the device with Vcc= 3.3V, is the differential output effectively 3.3V LVDS, or is the output 2.5V LVDS?

Hi Carlo,

You can see the electrical characteristics for the driver output in the datasheet, which include test conditions for 2.5V supply.

Thank you for your response. Our customer wants a 2.5V LVDS signals and they have 2.5V CMOS inputs to the device. If they power the device with Vcc=3.3V, will the device drive the LVDS signals at 3.3V or will the 2.5V input with a Vcc=3.3V result in an effective 2.5V LVDS output?

Hi Carlo,

There is no such thing as 2.5V LVDS signals. LVDS has a standard output according to the TIA/EIA-644A spec: 350mV swing and 1.2V common mode.
