Hi team,
I have an inquiry from my customer.
1. They have a 5" TFT LCD, 800x480 resolution, with 24 bit RGB interface + capacitive touch panel (I2C). The screen is used for HMI, so there are no "heavy" video requirements.
They want to drive the LCD with a standard SOM/SBC, so we are assuming that we will have MIPI DSI available. They are also assuming that the screen will not be near the SOM/SBC.
They want to know if they can use the LVDS SERDES pair: SN65LVDS822,SN65DSI83TPAPR to do this. Do you agree that this would be a viable solution, or do you have any recommendations on alternatives?
2. Additionally, it seems like both ICs above have EVMs that don't connect to each other. Do we have any interface solutions for this that will not require to build an adapter board? I couldn't find any but wanted to check.
3. Can they directly connect the LVDS output from their SOM/SBC to SN65LVDS822? I want to say yes - but I'm not sure if there are any SW requirements in this case.
Thanks!
Lauren
Hi Lauren,
The two devices you listed could work for the application.
An alternative would be using DS90UB941AS and DS90UB926. These two devices have compatible EVMs.
Does their SOM/SBC have LVDS output ports? If yes, they could directly connect to the SN65LVDS822 following the output format listed in 9.4.1 Active Modes of the datasheet
