We want to use sensor for Temperature measurement from +20 degree to +70 degree in range 19.999 to 69,999 The data to be displayed on five nos seven segment display and also to be sent to MODBUS RTU protocol please suggest suitable micro controller and sensor We would prefer RTD 100 or RTD1000 however we are open to your suggestions

  • Hi Ammar,

TI doesn't sell the RTD element, but we do sell a wide portfolio of fully integrated IC temperature sensors for the -40 to 125C range and beyond. Most of these devices have an I2C interface that will pair easily with most microcontrollers on the market. A common, low-cost device is the TMP1075. Our highest accuracy device, TMP117, has guaranteed +/-0.1C accuracy, and competes directly with many RTD solutions. Please take a look at the TMP117 product; it completely replaces the RTD element, ADC, and current references needed for an RTD solution.

RTD is commonly used for Cold Junction Compensation of thermocouples. If this is what you're building, this reference design has information on using TMP117 for CJC. https://www.ti.com/lit/tiduee1

Here's an application note from TI's ADC product line describing RTD circuits. You should connect with this team if you decide to build an RTD circuit. https://www.ti.com/lit/sbaa275

I'm not familiar with MODBUS and can't comment on our microcontroller offerings. I'll try to get your post directed to someone that can help you with that.

    thanks,
