DS90UB953-Q1: Deactivate the link between serializer and deserializer

Hi Team,

Our customer is using DS90UB953 together with a DS90UB954 FPDLINK III. He would like to know if there is a way to deactivate the link between both via software, while still being able to access registers via I2C? Especially he would like to deactivate the link at the serializer side.

Hello Danilo,

officially we do not have that kind of a mode. The only Low-power mode is to pull-down PDB pin. But you will not have I2C communication.

Nevertheless, we have a testing register (not intended to be used in production) which can disable the output stage on the SER. Please write register 0x8D[3:0] = 0000, and see if that works for you.

For the DES, yes, you can disable the FPD-Link ports in register 0x0C[1:0].

I have searched for the register 0x8D[3:0] from the datasheet of DS90UB953-Q1 but I can't find it. Are you pertaining to the 0x8D[3:0] register of DS90UB954-Q1?

Hello Danilo,

This register is on the SER not the DES.

But again, as I said, this is for test purposed only and not intended to be used in production, hence this register is not public.
