TUSB9261: Linux Flash Burner (can't make)

Part Number: TUSB9261

Hello Support,

Can someone point to the latest information to make a flash burner for Linux?

The user guide (and code) that can be found on this forum is dated 2013, and the procedure one has to follow doesn't work (libs not not exist anymore, compilations fail...).

Or better, just an installer ... I'm a HW guy, not a SW guru, please accept my apologies.

FYI, we're using a Nvidia SOM Xavier on our PCB, and this SoC doesn't have a SATA interface (even if the TRM says so..., marketing!). The Jetson devkit is using a Marvell PCIe-2-SATA bridge, but Marvell doesn't sell the chip if we don't order 10K's units/year and pay a license for using it. We plan to use the TUSB instead, but we need to flash the SPI from the Jetson OS (Ubuntu).

Thank you very much,
any help is appreciated.

  • Hi ESz,

Unfortunately we no longer have SW support for the Linux version of the TUSB9261 flashburner. The tool is provided as-is. One option is to use a windows machine create the complete FW image with a TUSB9261DEMO board . You will be able to get a bin or hex file doing this. Then use any external SPI master to write the complete FW to your on board SPI flash.

Another option: The user in the thread below was able to get the Linux tool to work their ARM platform. You may be able to request their package.

  • Hello Malik,

    I'm an ex-Tier (OMAP in Villeneuve-Loubet)

You understand that a document with a TI logo becomes a TI responsibility. Therefore answering that such a simple tool is not supported anymore, is not very nice to hear for a customer. If TI is selling components advertising them as compatible Linux, it cannot afford to NOT maintain the flash burner tool associated with it, especially if the Windows version is STILL supported. At least, in the OMAP business we were not acting that way with our customers.

I'm sure TI has the SW resources to have a look at this issue and update this tool for 2021 customers in a blink of an eye, please note that this will avoid you to dig in the Support Database and return the same answer to all your customers, years after years. An update of the tool will avoid you having to answer the same question for ever (seen some in 2013 and others in 2020).

I'd appreciate a sales representative point of view on this, I'm in the Defense business, this device is to be attached to an NVidia processor.

    Thank you.

  • Hi Eric,

I apologies for the inconvenience. I understand the frustration here, unfortunately, the original developers for this SW are no longer with TI and my team no longer has the SW expertise to provide a robust update to this package. I can also provide the latest source if that helps your immediate need. I will reach out over E2E DM to continue discussions here. Is that okay?
