TVS for esd in medical equipment

I saw the nice guide System-LevelESD Protection Guide, on choosing ESD / SURGE protections.

But it didn't help me with our application.
We have been working for a short time in the design of medical devices with type BF applied parts, (such as electrosurgical units) which must comply with the reference standard of EN60601, which provides for the ESD test at 8 / 15kV (contact / in air) on the applied parts.
The applied parts are the terminal part of a 480kHz radio frequency generator, with a maximum output voltage of 100Vrms (280Vpp).
I would like a suggestion for choosing TVS for ESD protections so as not to damage the radio frequency generator mosfets.
  • Hi Nicola,

Thanks for looking at our System Level ESD Protection guide!

Unfortunately, we don't have discrete TVS/ESD diodes that can help protect voltages greater than 48V.  We are definitely looking at closing this portfolio gap in the near future.

In the meantime, if you have requirements to protect low / mid voltage interfaces, please let us know and we will be glad to recommend TVS/ESD diodes to use.

    Thanks,
    Erika
