DS90UH947-Q1: Pair with DS90UH928Q-Q1

Part Number: DS90UH947-Q1
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: DS90UH948-Q1

My Customer ADS-Tec is in the definition phase of  a FPD-III Link Interface for a 24Bit Display. He has the following question for the concept what you can see in the attachment.

  • As the customer read from the datasheet the DS90UH947 is downward compatible to the DS90UB928QSQ

Are the any limits with this combination. In the datasheet he found that it should work for a pixel-clock with 85Mhz (7.4.2.1 Single Link Operation)

Their Display has a clockrate of 1/Tc of min. 68,9MHz and max. 73,4 MHz

  • For the EDID data they want to use the I2C channel of the DS90UB928QSQ/NOPB. Are there any limits to do so?
  • originally it was thought to transmit the SPI channel, but this is not possible with the DS90UB928QSQ/NOPB, because the SPI channel is transmitted on the second FPD-Link-III channel and the DS90UB928QSQ/NOPB has no SPI outputs (MOSI, MISO..).

If the SPI bus is connected to the serializer DS90UH947-Q1 (e.g. for a future optional use with the DS90UH948-Q1 deserializer), but the DS90UB928QSQ is connected as receiver:

Is the SPI channel then simply switched off / ignored and just doesn't work, or is there interference and noise that also interferes with the rest of the graphics / I2C transmission?
