DS90UB936-Q1: FPD-Link III frame sequence errors monitoring

Part Number: DS90UB936-Q1

Question on behalf of customer:

I'm writing to You to clarify some of my questions regarding the way how FPD-Link III frame sequence errors shall be monitored.

First of all, the deserializer specifications states that:

So as far as I understand, FPD3_ENC_ERROR bit will be latched as far as the FPD-Link III receiver detects encoding or sequence error, then:

We can read FPD3_ENCODE_ERROR bit and it indicated that FPD-Link III  encoding error has been detected.

My question is how can we distinguish encoding error from the frame error, or both refers to the same error?

  • Hello Piotr,

Encoder error and sequence error are both flagged by FPD3_ENCODE_ERROR. There is no way to distinguish the two types and they are not exactly the same, but functionally both types of error indicate a detected issue with the FPD-Link FC signal recovery.

    Best Regards,

    Casey
