DS110DF111: SFI signal detect=0

Part Number: DS110DF111

Hi team,

met a question on DS110DF111:

in INA-XFI loop, we could successfully run the loopback, and CDR LOCK now work normally;

but in INB-SPD, we fould that 0x54[bit7] signal detect = 0:

in which:

  1. SFI Signal is from INTEL x710 and we found driver worked normally and MAC Loopback worked normally too;
  2. DS110 INA/INB had the same register confirguation with 10G data speed setting;

question below:

  1. whether the above working condition could be achieved? for XFI and SFI, is there any different register configuation need to be set?
  2. if there is no different setting between these two input, could you help analysis the root cause on this issue?

  • Hi,

    The TI retimer supports both XFI and SFI interfaces. The specs for these 10G serial module interfaces are actually not too different. Couple of questions:

    • What is the peak-to-peak level for input signal to the retimer?
    • If the host forces signal detect HIGH on the retimer channel on SFI ingress path, is the retimer able to acquire CDR lock? The host may force signal detect asserted by setting channel register 0x14[7]=1

    Many thanks,
