Hi,
PCA9543A is 2 channel I2C bidirectional switch. Can I use the same for MDC/MDIO switching.
The requirement is MDC & MDIO interface should go to devices with same MDIO address. So, we need a switch to differentiate the different devices. The required BW of MDC/MDIO is 2.5MHz and voltage supported is 1.8V, but PCA9543A supports only frequencies upto 400KHz and voltage 2.3 to 5.5V.
Please suggest an alternate part if this part is not suitable for our requirement.
Thanks,
Tejaswi
Hi Tejaswi,
We do have analog switches in the 2channel, 2:1 (SPDT) configuration that support the required bandwidth. The status of the switch is controlled by GPIO signals.
TS5A23157 and TS5A23159 are two good options that will support the voltage and signal requirement. The TS5A23159 devices does support powered off protection feature that helps to simplify power supply sequencing as the signal voltage can come before the chip supply.
Hope this resolves your problem and let us know if any more questions.
Regards,
Sandesh
