TPS25750: TPS25750 for PD charging

I am using TPS25750 with BQ25792 for USB Type C PD charging. I understood that, this combination can work without any firmware. But when I connect Quick Charge adapter(peak volt is 20V) the voltage from it is still 5V.

I have referred TPS25750 EVK and found Application customization tool. I am not able to generate any programming files from this (other than .bin file)

I have given option to connect TPS25750 to our host processor through I2C interface. I have referred SLVUC05 document. This document is referring "patch F509.04.02 for TPS25750"

1. How to change the configuration from 5V to 20V so that maximum power of 60W can be achieved ?

2. Is configuration change required for changing the power consumption? And how to configure TPS25750 without using EEPROM and Application customization tool?

3. Can you share if you have any source code to access TPS25750 through I2C?

Are you attempting to work with the EVM/EVK?

1. The configuration GUI that you are describing has the option to configure the EVM or your system board. You should be able to select the picture that shows the BQ part as well as the TPS25750 and then follow through on all of the other configuration steps. There is an option to limit the source and sink power to 60W on the GUI.

2. The configuration change is required to both work with the charger and to set the PDO or power consumption as you are describing. It is possible to program the TPS25750 configuration/patch firmware using an external MCU and the command structure described in the TRM (SLVUC05) You will need to save the low region binary from the configuration GUI and follow the steps outlined in the TRM.

3. We cannot provide source code for this feature.

Hello Chuck,

I am not working with EVK/EVM. I am using TPS25750 and BQ25792 ICs in my customized board . Hence wants to change the configuration from 5V to 20V so that maximum power of 60W can be achieved .

The configuration GUI will allow your customer to generate a customized firmware configuration.

The file that is output is in the correct format to program the EEPROM. We have customers use a variety of commercial programmers to program the EEPROM on the PCB.

The Totalphase aardvark i2c programmer is one that is commonly used for this purpose.

They have a free piece of software called flash center that allows you to download the bin file from the gui onto the PCB.

Does your customer have pin headers or any method to access the i2c bus of the eeprom?

Hello Chuck,

I am connecting the TPS25750 I2C directly to the host processor. EEPROM is not there in the circuit.

How to generate a customized firmware configuration in the IC without using EEPROM?

Ritika,

You need to follow the process described in the TRM () to directly load the patch. The process is described in section 3.3 on page 44.

In the GUI, there is an option to save a low region binary. You will need to convert this binary into a C array. Here is a pointer to a flow that works for this process. https://www.keil.com/support/docs/2218.htm

After generating low region binary file I was trying to convert .bin file into C array following the method you suggested but error is coming. Please find the screenshot of the error:

Can you please let me know the issue and how to solve it ?

The screenshot did not come through.

Can you try to save it as a picture and use the insert media button on the editor? I have struggled with getting screenshots to load and this was the only way that worked for me.
