TPS65987EVM: 3.2 Application Configuration GPIO Event Settings

Guru 29720 points
Part Number: TPS65987EVM
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: TPS65987D

Hi Team,

I got TPS65987EVM and did the same content of "3.2 Application Configuration GPIO Event Settings" in page 7.
https://www.tij.co.jp/jp/lit/an/slvae11a/slvae11a.pdf
As a result, I found there is opposite transition of GPIO in the application note referred.
------------------------------------------
(wrong)
The example shows that TPS65987D transmit new source capabilities 5 V, 3 A when GPIO4 goes from high to low
and 5 V, 3 A and 9 V minimum 20 V maximum, 3 A when GPIO4 goes from low to high.

(correct: actual function)
The example shows that TPS65987D transmit new source capabilities 5 V, 3 A when GPIO4 goes from low to high
and 5 V, 3 A and 9 V minimum 20 V maximum, 3 A when GPIO4 goes from high to low.
------------------------------------------

So, I believe the following red part is opposite (typo) in GUI.

Could you look into it?

Best Regards,
Yaita

  • Yaita,

Thanks for pointing this out. I've looked into this issue and you are completely correct. As shown in the Host Interface Technical Reference Manual for this part, the two fields are accidentally swapped in the GUI. This is also an issue for the App config Group 2 and Group 3 Settings, where the same fields are swapped as well.

This will be fixed in the next release of the GUI 6.1.2 which is currently scheduled for release later this month. In the mean time you can continue to use the tool as is, but follow the register definition as defined in the Host Interface Technical Reference Manual:
