HD3SS3220: Back 2 Back USB Mux

one connector is plug which is upstream

the other connector is receptical which is downstream

Thank you for the quick reply.   

This might work.   The concept is to replace one end with a PLUG, in which HOST to this BOARD,  we would use a USB-C Extension cable (plug  --> receptacle) to the PLUG on the board.    On the far end, use RECEPTACLE and wiith any standard device USB C cable.     My question is what makes these difference?   I don't know enough on why that matters between a receptacle & plug.

what purpose of this device? monitor Vbus voltage? or CC pin voltage?

So sorry about the long delay.  I got pulled onto another project, but this is still open.    The purpose of this is to be able to monitor the power of a USB C device.        So I am bit confused on single MUX.  Which side do I run the the SSRX/TX lines on the left side USB receptacle (A or B)?    Or does it not matter?  

I appreciate the help and will be more diligent on followup.  

So I found the HD3SS3220 UFP Dongle on the TI website.

Figure 1 on the datasheet shows the HD3SS3220 going into USB Type A receptacle.  I see single SS TX/RX line like you suggest.  But what about having dual USB C receptacles?   

This is why I was thinking I needed back to back HD3SS3220.   

on the left, you can connect TX/RX to either TX1/RX1 or TX2/RX2 and adding 5.1k PD  on corresponding CC pin. so the left side acts like a type-c cable

I think I am slightly getting it..  huge paradigm shift.  Still fuzzy on a few things such as PD negotiation.  Will this be only limited to 5V or will support the other modes?

Plug..  Anyway of doing 2 receptacles?     That is what I am trying to implement.   But I can go back to the customer and push for 1 side being a plug but they asked for 2 receptacles.

if both connectors are receptacle, it means you need two CC connections and need two 3220.
