TPS65987D: Use TPS65987 without external flash, initialize via I2C

Part Number: TPS65987D

Hi,

My customer has problems with running the TPS65987D in his application. Can you please forward the request to your apps engineers that they can review the schematic below:

The online available documentation of the TPS65987D says that we can use the chip without external flash.

- The datasheet says that the External Flash is optional.

- It also says that we should connect the SPI to GND if not used.

- In the EVM SW there is an option "to device Ram

Because of space and production reasons we made a design with a PD controller without external flash. We want to configure the PD controller via I2C with our imx8mm. Start-up time is currently not a problem.

Q1: Is it possible to operate our TPS65987D like this or do we have a bug in our circuit?

Q2: How can I write the firmware to the internal Ram of the TPS65987D via i2c?

Thanks

Jan
