TCA9517A: spec differences with TCA9517

Part Number: TCA9517A
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: TCA9517

Hello,

while our customer is looking for I2C level shifter and asked about the product differences between TCA9517A and TCA9517. Could you clarify the differences between two devices.

Best regards,

  • Section 3 of the datasheet says:

The TCA9517A offers a higher contention level threshold, VILC, than the TCA9517, which allows connections to slaves which have weaker pulldown ability.

  • thank you. I understood the differences but I have also realized a difference of propagation delay time tPLZ from SDAB,SCLB to SDAA, SCLA. The max value is 250ns in TCA9517 whereas 350ns in TCA9517A.

Is either of them typo ?

    best regards,

  • Hi Toshiro-san,

Clemen's assessment is correct (as usual).

Our TCA9517A uses almost all of the same design as the non A version, the only difference is the ViLc for the device was shifted upwards from 0.4V to 0.45V compared to the non A version.

" I have also realized a difference of propagation delay time tPLZ from SDAB,SCLB to SDAA, SCLA. The max value is 250ns in TCA9517 whereas 350ns in TCA9517A"

I'm almost positive this is a typo. I believe the 350ns spec in the A version should infact be 250ns max.

  • Thank you very much. I understood this might be a typo. please revise the datasheet if you have a plan.
