Hi team,

Our customer is looking for transceiver device for XFP and SFP/SFP+ that can switch transmission rate between 10Gbps and 1gbps.

The image of communication is follow figure①.

Are there match device in TI?

Or Are there retimer device that have MUX can switch transmission rate by constitution of follow figure ②?

This is based on figure 1. DS110DF111 is a typical device used for 10GbE SFP module.

Sorry, my misunderstand.

I have understood this device for figure 1.

Incidentally, can this device be used for figure 2 too?

We think use two DS110DF111. One device is for RX. The other device is for TX.

The DS110DF111 does not have mux function. It is a simple serial retimer. If input data is 1G then output data is 1G, if input is 10G then output is that same 10G data.

Thank you for your reply.

Our customer plan to use this device in following configuration.

This configuration have two signal route XFI and SGMI.

When the 10G Module insert to SFP+ slot, CPU connect by XFI route by 10Gbps, the pink route in figure.

When the 1G Module insert to SFP+ slot, CPU connect by SGMI route by 1Gbps, the orange route in figure.

These Module plan to be identified through I2C interface that connect CPU, and change the signal route by LBK pin.

Is the above configuration feasible?

If there are any point to be careful, let me know.

This configuration should work. I would recommend to evaluate it using TI EVM boards to confirm.

Thank you quickly reply.

There is additional question.

This configuration switch signal route by LBK pin.

But we aren't able to detailed waveform adjustment because limited VOD and De-Emphasis control in pin control mode.

So, our customer want to know other method to change route other than pin control mode.

We found follow article mentioning register control.

thereby, We think that it's possible switch signal route by register 0x07 similar to pin control mode when ENSMB pin = HIGH = Register Access, SMBus Slave mode.
