TPS65987DDJ: TPS65987 feasibility

Part Number: TPS65987DDJ
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: TPS65987D

Hi ti Team,

Further review to the type C Block diagram, I have a new comment please review if it is possible to implement.

1,USB audio is a default setting for the system, play back for 192K/96K/88.2K/48K/44.1K sampling USB audio signal, since it is an important feature of the product, I would like to exchange USB audio chip D+,D- signal with the USB type C controller as illustrated by below photo, the USB audio D+,D- only need to go through an USB switch but not two switchs to maintain high quality RF signal .is there any issues for D+,D- signal deom USB type C connector to USB controller chip via two switchs?

2,Need to support BC1.2    please confirm.

  • Hello,

If you are not implementing TBT3 functionality, you will need to use the TPS65987D and not the TPS65987DDJ. These devices are identical from a hardware perspective, just the internal firmware is different. The TPS65987DDJ is intended for applications following a TBT reference design while the TPS65987D is intended for everything else.

As far as BC1.2 and Type-C enablement, the TPS65987D will meet both of these requirements
