TPS65988EVM: USB HUB

Part Number: TPS65988EVM

My basic setup is to use the 2 USB C port on the TPS65988EVM to act like a hub.  I am flashing the board using the App Tool TPS65981_2_6_7_8 (v 6.1.1).

What I am trying to achieve is to create communication and power path between two USB C ports.  I have PC plugged into port 1 and Android Phone plugged into port 2.    I have tried self power & external power using power source.

Example:

PC --> USB-C (port 1) -->  TPS65988EVM --> USB-C (port-2) --> Android Phone

I can't get the PC to see the phone or get the phone to charge from the port.

I tried flashing all the standard project and don't see it working as I would expect.   Is this configuration possible with this board?

  • Hello,

    It is not possible to transfer data from one Type-C port to the other on this EVM. However, you should be able to provide power.

    What is the voltage of the external power supply you are providing to SYS_PWR? Also, would you be able to share your project file that you have flashed to the EVM?

  • Thank you for the answer.    I will move on from this vector.  I was hoping it would be a solution to a problem I am having.    I am building a power monitor for usb-c tester and my current solution works great, but the polarity of the USB-C cable doesn't work in certain cases.   I am using USB-C receptacle to USB-C receptacle and wanted something that would allow for supporting flipping the cable.  But this is not it.

    Will try other approaches.
