DP83TD510E-EVM: 10Base-T1L Query

We are working on a 10Base-T1L solution and have two TI EVK media converter boards. These two cards work fine while connecting the 10Base-T1L link back-to-back. We have designed another card based on other vendors 10Base-T1L solution. we would like to validate the functionality of our card with TI EVK, but while connecting the 10Base-T1L port to the TI EVK port it doesn't work, but our card works with a back-to-back configuration similar to TI EVK. Could you please help us to make it work?


I have attached herewith a Block diagram of our system.

    Hello,

    Thanks for reaching out. Here are a couple of things we need to find out:

    1. How are you checking the link-up? Through some register read?

    2. What is the value of register 0x0003 of 510?

    3. What is the cable length used? Cable type?

    4. As this also depends upon the link-partner, are you also following up other vendor also? Do they need any configuration?

    5. Is the another vendor ADI?

    Hello Vikram,

    1) We did not read reg to check the link. We have LED in other vendor board to give the LED link status. Which is not glowing.  As we mentioned,  2 x TI EVK connected bak-to back works okay. And also another custom design connected back to back works okay, in this board we see the link LED glows while connecting two custom board back to back.  We are not reading or writing and reg in TI or other vendor PHY in this configuration / setup testing. 

    2) We need to check.

    3) Using simple jumper wire, 1 feet cable twisted.  This is the same cable works while connecting back to back same vendor setup.

    4) As I have mentioned we operating both the vendor EVK in standalone mode in unmanaged mode without any configuration. As in un managed mode both works with each other and they have same 10BT1L field interface like ethernet standard it should work.  We are curious that why it is not working

    Hello Mahesh,

    I received the confirmation that we have actually tested with ADI in an independent external lab and we saw link-up without any configuration writes to 510. But we are not aware if ADI had any special configuration in the external test lab. Can you check with them if it works fine with other link partners without any configuration?

    Also can you please share following regarding 510 EVM :

    1. Register value of 0x0003

    2. Any jumper you have changed from default setting?
