DS90UB953A-Q1: MIPI Input Impedance

Hello,
We are planning to use DS90UB953A-Q1and DS90UB954A-Q1 in our design for serialization and deserialization purpose so that the length of data transmission can be increased. We are planning to give mipi input to DS90UB953A-Q1 via Cable from the image sensor. our doubt here is whether the cable can be single ended 50 ohm coax instead of differential pair 100 ohm impedance. Kindly refer to the block diagram shown below. Let us know whether it will work or not

Planning to use same kind of setup to take data from Deserializer MIPI output to processing system.

Hello Revanth,

The MIPI CSI-2 interface has 1x CLK pair and up-to 4x Data pairs. Can you tell me, how do you want to connect these using Coax cable?

we are using only two lanes , In PCB we will route everything as 100ohm Differential pair to the SMA Connector from there All MIPI lines D0+ D0- , D1+,D1- and CLK+ CLK- will be taken as single ended 50ohm

Camera sensor -----> 3 MIPI lanes (D0,D1 and CLK) as single ended 50 ohms using coax cable (6 Cables) ----> Serializer PCB ----> 100 ohm differential pair as recommended in datasheet -----> DS90UB953A-Q1

Hello Revanth,

If you keep the coax cables very short (~ 10cm) this may work.

FYI, we at TI, never tested it and never validated it in this way.
