TPD12S015 HDMI Companion Chip with DC-DC Converter

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: TPD12S015

Hi Forum,

I hope you can help me with some simple(?) questions about the power supply rails for the TPD12S015.

1/ VBAT and VCCA are specified for operation from 2.3-5.5V and 1.1-3.6V respectively. Is there any disadvantage to powering both from the same 3.3V bus?

2/ VBAT is the input to an integrated boost converter that generates the 5V HDMI output voltage. Since this is a boost converter it is intended to produce an output voltage higher than the its input voltage. If the applied VBAT voltage is already 5V (or the maximum allowable 5.5V), will this circuit function properly? That is will it properly regulate its output voltage to 5V and will it limit its output current in the event of a fault?

Thanks,

Scott
