DP83822I: Auto-neg and forced mode collusion?

Part Number: DP83822I

Hi team

when using DP83822I. set the modes of operation into force modes as below AN=11 as 100M network, and auto-negtiation enable as well. Is this usage OK to both set above modes?  Currently test 3 same independent prototypes, 1 can auto-neg success and run 100M full-duplex, while other 2 prototypes commnunicate over time during auto-neg, then automatically 10M half duplex.  Is there any hints to help locate the potential cause?  Customer want 100M full duplex

Best Regards

  • Hello,

I'm slightly confused by the first statement. You want to force the speed to 100M while enabling auto-negotiation as well? Or do we just need to force 100M? In what mode are the following pins strapped?

    • COL
    • RX_D0
    • RX_D3
    • LED0

    Thank you,

    Nikhil

  • Hi Nikhil,

yes, i want to force the speed to 100M while enabling auto-neg as well.  Is it Ok to do with this?

For this case, i found out it is due to PHY address wrong, so can not auto-neg.

    Best Regards

  • Hi Gene,

Table 12 shows the available advertisement modes through straps and register 0x4 shows the available advertisement modes via registers. The combinations listed are the only combinations available.

For example, in Table 12, if [FX_EN, AN_EN, AN_1, AN_0] = [0,1,1,0], PHY will only advertise 10M half-duplex and 100M half-duplex, and will negotiate with the link partner to choose the speed.

Please let me know if any further clarification is needed.

    Thank you,

    Nikhil
